As I mentioned in the Valentine's Day post, Ben and I installed new floors in our two upstairs bathrooms. It was an easy, relatively inexpensive improvement. Our linoleum was pretty ugly with marker stains all over it from the people who lived here before us. It was time for a change. I'll tell ya though, picking out the tile at the store is not easy. It looks completely different when you bring it home and put it next to your carpet, paint color, and cabinets. We chose something quite a bit lighter the first time and decided against it because it was way too similar to the carpet. Our friends suggested going darker (which we actually probably never would have thought of on our own....seriously, we're not that adventurous.) I didn't like this tile color at Lowe's, but when we brought it home I loved it.

And in other exciting news, we painted the baseboards in both bathrooms white because we kind of hate the fake natural wood color that is throughout the house. So I guess we may be undertaking the whole house eventually. It looks really good white, but it's going to be so much work. Luckily we have like 3 1/2 more years in this house to get it done though.

I personally like the dark color! It goes so well with everything from what I can see. Ben is just your extra handy handyman.
Looks good guys! Thanks for the Valentine, so cute. I love his little hand print!! :D
WOW! It looks great. I am so impressed. We should probably have you guys come over and do ours too. Pretty Please. :)
yuck...i took on the white painting this summer...and it WAS a horribly long project...but makes it look SO much better! do it now so you can enjoy it! i love the tile.
It's pretty bad when I'm envious of your home improving. I think it looks like a lot of fun, but maybe I just have a warped sense of fun. :)
And I love your "rainbow" post below. You crack me up! I can just hear you rationalizing between the pantry and the bathroom.
We miss you guys!
I love the tile in your bathroom - I also love that you are contemplating taking on the whole house now... Unfortunately when I get a project in mind I just can't let it go... and I usually start it without Shane knowing and he gets stuck doing it. Shane and I will definately have to come visit now that we know our family is about 10 minutes from you!
The improvements look fabulous. I love the before and after shots, helps you really appreciate all the work that goes into it. I hope you love it!
In defense of me, I happen to think that this blog incorporates the finest in literary and artistic talent, and I am proud to be a regular reader. I emphasize the reading part because that is what I do. However, just because I normally happen to be happy to read and not comment doesn't mean that I can't comment after reading as well. Yes, if you are confused then you can reread that last line again. Again, to review and recap, I think Melinda is hot and I like her blog too. And I really like little E.
We need to talk! I want to do my bathroom floors! Yours look awesome. I totally love the random post by the way where you just share your thoughts...I'm all about those lately!
