First Week Home

We have had quite the 11 or so days since bringing Madeline home from the hospital.  She just gets cuter every day.  We love this sweet little baby to pieces, and that includes her siblings...which means I am constantly trying really hard to be patient and remind them to NOT kiss her face and spread all their nasty school germs to her.  I'm glad they love her, but by the end of the day I am a bit relieved to not have older kids climbing all over me while I am trying to feed her.  A good way to describe my feelings by the time 8 pm rolls around is "sucked dry".

I am enjoying this stage a whole bunch, but I also feel like it's a lot to try to take care of everyone's needs.  I'm slowly getting things figured out though, and I have been lucky to have great family, friends, and neighbors who have helped me.  Ben has been just wonderful to help with things, and most nights when I lay down to go to sleep, I just look over at him and almost burst into tears with gratitude that I married such a great guy.  And sometimes I just burst into tears for no real reason, and he's patient with that too.  I don't really like to gush in public about what a wonderful man I married because I feel like it's sometimes insincere and meant for everyone else to read but them, but I have really been so grateful for all the extra things he has taken on in order to help me recover.  He is a great husband and father and I love him so much. (End gushing.)

So mad to be changed into different clothes

She pulls the crabbiest faces when she sleeps, but she is a very good-natured baby.
Getting ready to go home from the hospital
E is such a proud big brother
Sammi loves her too!

The sweetest sleeping face ever.

Nin, you have an amazing Mom! And she is right, she does have darling grandchildren! As do I, of course, but that is because we all share a lot of those amazing Betteridge/Draper genes! But I guess the other contributing genes are not too bad either! Aunt Karen
