Estimated time for labor of love: 8 hours. It takes longer than you would think to roll out 120 gumdrops by hand, cut around the edge with decorative scissors, reroll the scraps to make sleeves, bake the 2 sizes of cupcakes, assemble the body, roll the crowns and cut them out, frost the cupcakes, arrange the gumdrop dresses, secure the little hands, pipe the decorative frosting, and then make faces and hair. I honestly had a great time doing it. And I was happy with the result.
My friend McCall told me about this book and I heart it to pieces. It seriously made me giddy just looking through it. I love love love it. But I think it'll be awhile before I make those princesses again. At least until my carpal tunnel subsides.Happy Birthday Nattie! Good luck in Disneyland on your semester abroad! Just remember that we're all jealous because you'll be living in the happiest place on earth...or close to it at least.

Your cupcakes look absolutely amazing!
These look so good! I can't wait to try making some.
Now those are impressive! You have more patience than I do! They turned out fabulous, though!
One word: WOW
Does my forehead always look that big? Hm. Thanks again for being such a lovely sister (and human being).
We were so impressed with your darling cupcakes! AND they were declicious as well as beautiful. My favorite thing about them was how each princess had her own personality!
Wow! Can I just hire you to do those for Sadie's next birthday? She'll be lucky to get a poorly frosted cake from me. :) They're amazing!
ok, you seriously ROLLED out gum drops to make those?! you must REALLY love you sister! ha ha! they turned out so so cute! i was going to ask if you've ever gone to the Bakerella site, but i just saw your link! great work!
I can't believe eight hours! I must say I am deeply impressed at your skill and I just wish that instead of eight hours it was twenty minutes because Julia would love those. Now the real question...How easy are they to eat?
Wow! You are quite the "betty crocker"! Aren't you? They look awesome truly! You are very talented!
There is absolutely no way I would have let anyone eat them after going to that much work. I would have let them get stale and hard and then put them on a shelf for everyone to admire. :) You are amazing!
Wow, those are some of the most impressive cupcakes I've ever seen. Nicely done!!! TOTAL labor of love. Where is she going for her semester abroad?
Those cupcakes look fantastic! I also LOVE that little book. I also have one called Perfecty Cupcake that I picked up at our locol Costco a few months ago - It has a cupcake for every month of the year. I must say I admire your talent/dedication to making them. I usually give up because of the time commitment. You should start a business.
amazing. you are.
those are so stinkin' cute! I wouldn't even eat them, I would be sad after they were gone!
those are awesome!! i would not have the patience for that. way to go!
Wow Melinda! You've got some MAD SKILLZ when it comes to baking (well and everything else!) They look amazing, I can't imagine being able to take a bit out of one after all that hard labor! You're such a great sister!
Dang girl.
Wow, you and Brooke should definitely open a bake shop! These are the cutest cupcakes I have ever seen! I am with Cammy though, I would have kept them for display. I wanted to text Nat a happy birthday and good luck on her new adventure, but I didn't have her phone number!!
