So we have this group of 4 mallards that like to come chill by our garage. I have no idea why. We don't feed them, and there aren't any female ducks hanging out. It could be that both of our neighbors have bird feeders by their garages, but we don't. Dumb ducks. They kind of move in a coordinated pattern, swinging their heads the same way at the same time and it got me thinking about the movie,
The Birds. For some reason I don't think it would've been as menacing had ducks been cast instead of those creepy crows/blackbirds.
The other day we looked out our back window and saw one of these said mallards on top of our garage. It didn't look like the cool cardinals and other small birds that usually grace the garage, so I just thought it looked awkward. And it looked like it felt awkward, too. Kind of like it had landed there by accident but wasn't going to tell anybody that.
I hope some girl-duck will see past your awkwardness and be your mate someday, big fella.

AAAGGGHHH! That duck does look embarrassed. I dislike birds soo much. (Like your dad) Mention of the movie freaks me out! Yet I like to watch them in the backyard from inside. The best bird story is the seagull that swooped down and took the churros out of your mom's hand!! I love E smelling the roses! He is very precious!

i love your writing style melinda! you always make me laugh! i saw this same thing (ducks on a rooftop) just last week and thought the same thing (that's weird)! ha ha! poor awkward duck!
I hate birds. I'm always afraid they're going to peck my eyes out. Especially when the linger awkwardly. It makes me think they're up to something.
That's awesome. One day I saw a falcon in our backyard, but I never posted the picture. This totally reminded me of that.

Should I show Nate this post? I always felt bad for the geese when they went throught their "teenage" years and they were the ugliest most awkward things.
